Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for machining a cylindrical work piece.SOLUTION: A cutting tool assembly comprises: a tool rest capable of lateral movement along a work piece to be cut; and a shank part on the tool rest comprising at least one machined tool tip and possibly other tool tips. The tool tip comprises a diffractive mechanism in contact with the work piece in order to machine a macro-scale mechanism having a nano-scale mechanism. The machined work piece can be used to make articles having a diffractive mechanism such as optical films having a small lens.
