Abstract:

To provide a compound having calpain inhibitory activity.

The compound is represented by following formula (I), wherein R1 represents a lower alkyl group, R2 represents hydrogen, halogen, a cyano group, a lower alkyl group or a lower alkoxy group, and n is 0 or 1. In particular, the compound is (2S)-4-methyl-2-(((phenylamino) thioxomethyl)amino)-N-((3S)-tetrahydro-2-hydroxy-3-furanyl)pentanamide. The compound is effective as an agent for preventing or treating calpain-related diseases.
