To provide a cylinder grinding method by which an outer face of a cylindrical part of an object to be ground can be ground at a high speed and highly efficiently.
When a grindstone 15 is rotated in a condition in which a rotary axis Xc is inclined for the direction of Xt by a predetermined angle θ0 and is fed in for a workpiece 1 by a take-in allowance amount δ, the grindstone 15 is held at a position (Z0) where it is fed in by the take-in allowance amount δ, and a traverse table 11 starts its travel from a traverse start position (Xts) to the direction of +Xt (+X direction). The workpiece 1 is traversed in the direction of +Xt due to the travel of the traverse table 11 so that an outer face of a cylindrical part of the workpiece 1 is ground by the grindstone 15 from its right end to its left end. That is, the traverse grinding in which the rotary axis Xc of the grindstone 15 is inclined for the direction of Xt which is the traverse direction of the workpiece 1 by the predetermined angle θ0 is performed.
