Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a cylindrical article gripping device which can consistently grips the outer circumference of a cylindrical article while maintaining its gripping center even if it has an extraordinary diameter.
CONSTITUTION: Gripping bodies 6, 6 which grip a cylindrical article 1 between them are supported by rotary arms 4, 4 one end of which is fixed on a shaft, and moved as appropriate by adjusting means 8, 8 depending upon a change in the gripping center of the article 1 when its outside diameter is altered. This constitution allows cylindrical articles with a large or small diameter to be uniformly gripped. Further, the uniform gripping position allows a single device to grip cylindrical articles with extraordinary diameters and eliminates the need to replace the gripping device or its attachment depending upon articles to save involved workhours and services. As a result, workers and even costs are saved because the preparation and management of renewal parts as well as storing space and workers for such management are not required.
