The cylindrical roller bearing is provided with a piercing hole 16 in which cylindrical rollers 30 can be passed through the inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the outer ring 10 and the piercing hole 16 is blocked by a cover member 18. When the cylindrical roller 30 is assembled to the retainer 40, the cylindrical roller 30 fits in a pocket 48 of the retainer 40 through the piercing hole 16 in a state that the retainer 40 is arranged in the outer ring 10 inside. Then, the piercing hole 16 is blocked by the cover member 18. Consequently, when the cylindrical roller 30 is assembled to the metal clad retainer 40, the plated film is not be peeled off because the retainer 40 is not be deformed elastically.
