To provide a damping control device capable of identifying an optimal control gain at a real time and applying the optimal gain in operation.
The damping control device includes a controller for controlling a damping device which can restrain vibrations in directions orthogonal to a conveying direction of belt-shaped metal plates conveyed continuously and approximately perpendicular to the plate surface of the metal plate, and an information processing device for changing the control gain by identifying the control gain of the controller. The information processing device includes: a data acquisition section for acquiring displacement result values of the metal plate detected with a detecting device for detecting in a direction orthogonal to a conveying direction of the metal plates and operation actual values of the damping device; a control gain identification section for identifying the control gain of the controller by using a control model of the damping device on the basis of displacement actual values and operation actual values; and a control gain change section for changing the control gain of the controller at designated timing on the basis of the identified control gain.
