To provide the damping water amount adjusting control means of an offset printing press, for controlling the supply amount of damping water in all of roller width directions with good balance and avoiding the printing abnormality due to the supply abnormality of damping water in the whole surface of printing paper, and the offset printing press having this control means.
In the offset printing press capable of numerically changing the supply amount of damping water, the amount distribution of damping water contained in the ink on an ink roller 22c is measured by an infrared sensor 31 to calculate the amount distribution of damping water in the width direction of the roller. Subsequently, weighting is applied to a point showing the minimum amount of damping water in the amount distribution of damping water. On reference to the weighted numerical value and the mean numerical value of the amounts of damping water in all of the width directions of the ink roller, the quantity L of rotation of a water fountain roller 11 is controlled to adjust and control the supply amount of damping water.
