To provide a data processor and a method for controlling access to shared resources, which have a high energy-saving effect.
The data processor comprises a plurality of processors executing respective data processing operations for requesting accesses to the shared resources; and a path for mutually connecting the plurality of processors. An access control mechanism controls the accesses to the shared resources by the plurality of processors. Each processor needs access to the shared resources, but when the access control mechanism prevents its access to the shared resources, this processor enters into an energy-saving mode. Further, each processor issues a notification onto the path when the access to the shared resources becomes not necessary earliest for this processor during its own access to the shared resources. A processor in the energy-saving mode exits from the energy-saving mode, on receipt of the notification, and seeks the access to the shared resource.
