Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a bus controller which has a dynamic bus sizing function and can communicate with any of plural system resources having different data port sizes via a communication bus that is equal to a common multiple of port size.
CONSTITUTION: A storage 20 transmits a size signal and shows the size of a data port that can be used for transfer of a requested operand of a specific size in response to the signal received from a bus controller 14 which requests the transfer of the operand. The controller 14 can divide an operand transfer cycle into several bus cycles to secure the complete transfer of the operand in response to the size of the operand to be transferred and the size of the data port. In this process, the controller 14 compensates the address alignment between the operand and the data port.
