To provide a data updating method capable of updating contents of a sequence program and a control program stored in a memory area dedicated to readout without troubling a user, without regional restrictions, and with high security and certainty in a short period of time.
The updating method for data of a first storage part is equipped with the first storage part dedicated to read-out which stores the sequence program or the like and is rewritable, a second storage part freely rewritable, an operation control unit, and a communication control unit for controlling data transmission reception. The method includes a stage for a user to receive an instruction and data necessary for updating the data stored in the first storage part of a programmable logic controller transmitted from a manufacturer side via the communication line; and a stage for rewriting storage contents of the first storage part in accordance with the reception contents.
