Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a DC arc furnace, capable of carrying out prominent melting treatment over a long period of time.
CONSTITUTION: A hearth or a bottom wall 3 is constituted of a three-layered structure consisting of a current collecting plate 7, a heat insulating refractory layer 8, laminated and formed on the current collecting plate 7, and a corrosion protective refractory layer 9. A cylindrical section 10, constituting an inner peripheral part in the peripheral wall 2 of the furnace and whose upper end is contacted with molten metal 6 on the bottom wall 3 while whose lower end is contacted with the current collecting plate 7, is constituted of a conductive refractory material and the ceiling wall 1 of the furnace, provided with an upper electrode 4, and the peripheral wall 2 of the furnace are constituted of a non-conductive refractory material excluding the cylindrical section 10 while the bottom wall 3 and the cylindrical section 10 are utilized as a hearth electrode 5 as a whole.
