To provide a defect detecting and eliminating method which includes: cutting a wide band article in accordance with information of a defect detection device after slitting the wide band article into narrow band articles; and rejecting only defected parts at a minimum in providing a sheet article, and also to provide a production method of the sheet article under this detect detecting and eliminating method.

The defect detecting and eliminating method includes preventing mixture of the defected parts detected on the wide band article in making the wide band article into the sheet articles by cutting it in a cutting process after making it into the narrow band articles of specified width in a slipping process. The method also has: a defect detecting process of having the defect detection device 106a to detect defect of the wide band article; a defect information input process of inputting defect information of the wide band article provided in the defect detecting process to an information transmitting means; an adhering process of bonding the information transmitting means inputting the defect information, and a detect eliminating process of eliminating the defected points from the sheet articles in accordance with information of the information transmitting means bonded in the adhering process.
