To provide a defrosting operation control device and its method capable of starting defrosting at a proper defrosting time according to a frost formation position, by surely detecting the frost formation positions to an evaporator 10 as a heat exchanger.
A controller 4 classifies a frost formation type 1 where the frost formation is found at an inlet of the evaporator 10 when a straight line connecting an indoor temperature/humidity on a psychrometric diagram of the evaporator 10 and an outside temperature/humidity, passes above a saturation line, a frost formation type 3 where the frost formation is found at an outlet of the evaporator when a temperature of a suction air sensor 17 is 0°C or more, and a frost formation type 2 of cases excluding the above. The controller 4 changes the defrosting starting time according to the classified frost formation position.
