Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out a dephosphorization reaction efficiently by controlling the basicity of slag present in a converter from the start to the completion of a dephosphorization treatment, in carrying out the dephosphorization treatment of molten iron by blowing a flux for dephosphorization, together with oxygen gas, onto molten iron in the converter from a top-blown lance.SOLUTION: A dephosphorization treatment method for molten iron in a converter comprises blowing oxygen gas onto molten iron 18 in a converter 2 from a top-blown lance and supplying a flux 20 for dephosphorization based on CaO to the molten iron in the converter to oxidize phosphorus in the molten iron by oxygen gas and capturing produced phosphorus oxides in the slag-formed flux for dephosphorization so as to remove phosphorus in molten iron. At least a part of the flux for dephosphorization is added to the bath surface of the molten iron in the converter by blowing from the top-blown lance, and the minimum value of the basicity, (mass%CaO)/(mass%SiO), of the slag in the converter from the start to the completion of the dephosphorization treatment is controlled to be 0.80 or higher and lower than 1.20.
