Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain design paper with colored patterns of dots or speckles.
SOLUTION: Anionized or cationized starch particles colored with cationic or anionic colorant respectively are prepared. A paper stock containing the colored starch particles and fibrous raw material for papermaking such as pulp is then prepared and processed for papermaking to obtain the objective design paper embedded with the colored starch particles. Alternatively, the colored starch particles are dispersed in a dispersion medium such as water, sizing solution, etc., to obtain a suspension; by coating the surface of the paper support with the suspension, another version of the design paper externally applied with the colored starch particles is obtainable. The anionized starch particles colored with cationic colorant can be obtained by dispersing anionized starch particles in water and dispersing or dissolving a cationic colorant in the dispersion. Also, the cationized starch particles colored with anionic colorant can be obtained in the same manner. Further, a dye or pigment is used as the colorant.
