Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems in which: a clear line cannot be woven by conventional splashed-pattern weaving; and tapestry weaving uses more weft yarns than usual weaving without a pattern or than the splashed-pattern weaving, so that it requires long time for weaving.SOLUTION: In a design weaving method, at the conceptual stage of a design, parts to be represented by the respective techniques of slit weaving and splashed-pattern weaving are determined in a single pattern to be woven. Then, warp yarns are stretched on a loom, and a part to be woven with a splashed-pattern is marked on a fabric woven by using only the slit weaving according to the design. In the part, a weft yarn is unraveled by an unraveling technique, thereby making a seed yarn for splashed-pattern yarns. Multiple splashed-pattern yarns are made based on the seed yarn, and then the warp yarns are again stretched in the same way as when the seed yarn is made. By using the obtained splashed-pattern yarns, weaving is performed again by the technique of the slit weaving according to the design. Thereby, a line part by the slit weaving and a line part by the splashed-pattern weaving are woven at the same time in the single design. There is also provided the design obtained by the weaving method.
