Abstract:
PURPOSE:To correctly detect the presence or absence of butting by generating a butting signal through electric conduction between an underground excavator and an object to be joined when a front end of a boring machine pushed from the underground excavator butts against the object to be joined. CONSTITUTION:When two rotary excavation shielding machines 2a, 2b advancing from two directions come close to each other 30-40m apart, a consolidation type excavator of small diameter provided in front of the shielding machine 2b draws out a boring machine 3 in parallel to the excavation center line from a predetermined reference position. In this case, if the shielding machines 2a, 2b are connected with each other via a power source 8 and an ammeter 7 by one leading wire 6 through respective galleries 4a, 4b and pits 5a, 5b, the boring machine 3 is electrically conducted with the shielding machine 2b. Accordingly, if butting occurs between the boring machine 3 and shielding machine 2b, a current flows in the ammeter 7.
