To be capable of adjusting a device for clamping a bookblock for conveying the bookblock by pinching that in a bookblock processing machine so that its open width can be side guided reliably with no problem and to improve so that an opening motion and/or a closing motion can be carried out without generating a shock and a sudden motion.
The device 1 for clamping the bookblock comprises: an inside clamping jaw 5; and an outside clamping jaw 6 which is arranged parallel to that, can be transferred to it and affects a clamping force on the bookblock 2 via a driving/force propagating means. A support component 20 capable of being transferred to a position parallel to an outside clamping jaw 6 and being spaced from it by a control means 27, is annexed to the outside clamping jaw 6.
