Abstract:
PURPOSE: To keep the fuel from vaporization and emission by a method wherein switch valves are provided respectively in passageways between a fuel adsorbent-containing canister and each of the atmosphere, fuel tank, and combustion device and in starting and stopping of the operation of the combustion device and in refueling the switch valves specified for the respective control actions are opened or closed.
CONSTITUTION: A first switch valve 41 is provided in a passageway 401 between a canister 11 containing a fuel adsorbent 81 and the stmosphere; a second switch valve 42, in a passageway 402 between the canister 11 and a fuel tank 20; and a third switch valve 43, in a passageway 403 between the canister 11 and a combustion device 13. An atmospheric air conduit 45 is connected between the downstream side of the first switch valve 41 and the downstream side of the third switch valve 43. When the combustion device 13 is put in operation, the second switch valve 42 is closed; when the operation of the combustion device 13 is stopped, the first switch valve 41 and the third switch valve 43 are closed. For the refueling, the second switch valve 42 and a fourth switch valve 44 are opened.
