Title:
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DISCRIMINATING GASOLINE AND GAS OIL FROM EACH OTHER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3408897
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the discriminating speed, stability, and reliability of a gasoline/gas oil discriminating device by providing the detecting element of a thermal conductivity type sensor which outputs different values depending upon the thermal conductivity of the ambient atmosphere in a detecting section to which the vapor of either one of objects to be discriminated is introduced.
SOLUTION: The detecting element 3 of a thermal conductivity type sensor is provided in a detecting section 2. When a tank 18 containing an object 17 to be discriminated is connected to the suction port 16 of a vapor introducing section 12, the vapor of gasoline or gas oil is introduced to the detecting section through the section 12 by means of a suction/exhaust mechanism 13. The heat conducting state near the detecting element 3 is decided from the vapor and the element 3 outputs an output. Simultaneously, the temperature in the tank 18 is measured by means of a temperature sensor 15. The outputs of the element 3 and sensor 15 are inputted to a computer 21 after the outputs are amplified 19 and A/D-converted 20 and the computer 21 discriminates whether the object is gasoline or gas oil by comparing the output value of the thermal conductivity type sensor with a prestored discriminating threshold.
