The photoreceptor drum 1 is intruded into the paper conveyance belt 10 by an intrusion quantity K of 0.2 to 0.6 [mm] while the photoreceptor drum is moved in contact with the photoreceptor drum 1 to some width in the belt movement direction. Consequently, while a transfer defect due to a contact defect between an image carrier such as the photosensitive drum 1 and the paper conveyance belt 10 (or transfer paper P) as a recording body holding belt is suppressed, a transfer defect and lift of the front end of transfer paper P due to extremely tight contact between the both can be suppressed. Thus, while the transfer defect due to the contact defect is suppressed, the transfer defect and jamming due to the lift can be suppressed.
