A male body 5 of a device 1 for passing a string is made up of a cylinder part 3 to be put into a string hole and a head part 4 overhung over the cylinder part 3 to allow grasping of a fabric on the rim of the string hole between the male body and a female body 6 while the head part 4 is divided on a vertical section 7. A string through hole 8 is provided along the division plane piercing the side of the head part 4 from the lower end of the cylinder part 3. Thus, various designs are applied on the head part 4 while a string is taken out from the string through hole 8 along the fabric.
