This device comprises a stationary member 34 coaxial with the center axis, a stator 38 fixed to the stationary member 34, a rotatable member 36 rotatable around the center axis relative to the stationary member 34, a rotor 70 supported by the rotatable member 36 and magnetically joined to the stator 38, and a hydrodynamic fluid bearing 37 for interconnecting the stationary member 34 and the rotatable member 36, the hydrodynamic fluid bearing 37 having at least one of working surfaces 44, 46 including a coating formed of one of groups consisting of amorphous carbon, diamond-like carbon, hydrogenated amorphous carbon, nitrogenated amorphous carbon, hydrogenated diamond-like carbon and nitrogenated diamond-like carbon, one of the groups being provided on one of groups consisting of chrome, silicon, titanium, and zirconium.
