Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a new compound useful as a metal extractant and an intermediate for industrial raw material and synthesizable in high purity by using a mixed olefin as it is.
CONSTITUTION: This di(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)phosphine is expressed by the formula. The compound can be produced by reacting 1mol of phosphine with ≥2mol of a trimethylpentene (preferably diisobutylene) in the presence of a catalyst consisting of an alkanesulfonic acid of formula R-SO3H (R is a 1-4C alkyl) (e.g. methanesulfonic acid) and an organic solvent (preferably toluene, n-hexane, etc.) preferably at 60-80°C for 2-10hr. The reaction is carried out e.g. in an autoclave provided with a Teflon(R) inner cylinder at a (phosphine/ trimethylpentene) molar ratio of 1:(2-3).
