Title:
DIAMOND-CONTAINING BLADE MATERIAL FOR SHARP-EDGED TOOL, SUCH AS KITCHEN KNIFE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3641794
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blade material which is great in both of cutting quality and its persistence for kitchen knives and other cutters used for selective cutting of the tissues, cells, etc., of living things.
SOLUTION: This blade material is formed by edging a sintered compact which is formed by using diamond particles D of ≤100 μm in grain size as a cutting material and sintering the material together with pure titanium particles or titanium alloy particles containing ≥50 wt.% pure titanium as a matrix (medium) of the diamond particles D. As a result, the diamond particles D of ≤100 μm in grain size are arrayed and fixed nearly on one line at a blade edge after edging and, therefore, the cutting quality is excellent and the persistence of the cutting quality is outstanding. In addition, the compounding of the costly diamond particles may be localized only to the blade edge and the section immediately near the blade edge and, therefore, the cutter having the excellent characteristics may be provided at a low cost.
