EXAMPLE: 5H-Dibenzo[b,f][1,5]oxazocin-11(12H)one.
USE: Intermediate of psychotropic agents especially antidepressant and analgesic.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I can be prepared either by (i) subjecting the carboxylic acid of formula II (Q is NH2-protecting group) or its salt to the intramolecular condensation cyclization, or by (ii) subjecting the compound of formula III to Schimitt reaction, or by (iii) reacting the compound of formula IVwith hydroxyalamine, and subjecting the resultant ketoxime to Beckmann rearrangement reaction. The above drug for the central nervous system can be obtained by introducing various substituent groups to the 12-nitrogen site of the compound of formula I .
