To obtain a heat developable photosensitive material contg. a dye imparting substance giving a positive image having little fog and sufficiently high max. density by forming a layer contg. a specified dye imparting substrate on a substrate.
This heat developable photosensitive material has a layer contg. a hydrophilic binder, photosensitive silver halide and a dye imparting substance represented by formula I on the substrate. In the formula I, Dye is an azomethine dye group derived from an active methylene compd. and a p- phenylenediamine deriv. or an indoaniline dye group derived from a phenolic compd. and a p-phenylene-diamine deriv. and A is a group represented by formula II, wherein J is a divalent combining group such as -CONH-, L is a divalent combining group, W is a divalent combining group such as -CONH-, B is a group substitutable on the benzene ring, (k) is an integer of 0-2, (m) is 0 or 1, each of R1-R6 is H, an aliphatic group, etc., and Q is a bonding site to Dye.
