To provide a digital camera that can photograph an object at an optional time for a short time interval.
When photographing is performed by depressing a shutter button while depressing an image recording standby switch, image data are temporarily stored in a fast writable RAM (Random Access Memory) and a state of taking the next photograph is provided. Therefore, it is not necessary to carry out image interpolation, compression and image data write into a flush memory just after the completion of photographing, and the next photograph can be taken within a short time. Furthermore, by canceling depressing of the image recording standby switch, timings to carry out interpolation processing, compression processing and writing into the flush memory that require a long time, regarding image data within the RAM can be determined based on user intention, thereby preventing a photographing start disabled state from continuing for a long time against the user intention.
