Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:2-Geranyl-3,4,2',4'-tetrahydroxychalcone expressed by the formula.

USE: A medicine and carcinostatic agent usable by either one of oral and parenteral administration. The dose thereof is 0.01W100mg/kg adult body weight/ day for oral administration and 10mg/kg body weight/day for parenteral administration.

PREPARATION: The flower part of a medicinal plant Artocarpus communis collected in Indonesian Java Island is extracted with 1W90% ethanol solution several times, concentrated under reduced pressure to produce a crude extract, which is then subjected to adsorption chromatography. Fractions eluted with hydrous methanol, methanol and acetone are combined and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the aimed brown oily compound expressed by the formula.
