Abstract:
To provide a new dimethylaminopropanol derivative useful as a raw material for producing a bethanechol halide.
1-Dimethylamino-2-propanol is reacted with benzyl isocyanate to synthesize 2-dimethylamino-1-methyl-ethyl benzylcarbamate. Furthermore, the dimethylaminopropanol derivative is catalytically reduced to produce 2-dimethylamino-1-methyl-ethyl carbamate. The resultant ester is then reacted with a methyl halide to produce the bethanechol halide.
