PURPOSE: To stabilize an operation and to improve yield by providing end gates having heat resistance, etc., to both ends of twin rolls, dividing the gates at the center line of the roll gap and pressing the gates to the roll end faces by back up means.
CONSTITUTION: The end gates 3, 3' are disposed to the cooling rolls 1, 1' and are bisected at the center line of the roll gap 6. The gates 3, 3' are formed of a material having heat resistance, wear resistance and lubricity and are pressed to the end faces of the twin rolls 1, 1' by the back up means including springs 4, 4' and pneumatic cylinder 5. The roll end gates 3, 3' maintain the tight contact with the roll end faces by following up the slight shifting of the rolls 1, 1' at the time of executing continuous casting by pouring a molten metal into a molten metal pool 6. The operation of the continuous casting is, therefore, stabilized and the yield of the product is improved.
