This discharge lamp 5 with a reflecting mirror 6 is arranged with the discharge lamp 5 sealed with at least a metal iodide in the reflecting mirror 6 formed into a recessed shape. The reflecting mirror 6 is coated with a metal deposition film 7 on its inner wall face, it is provided with small-range sections 8 nearly uniformly dotted on the inner wall face, and the infrared rays radiated from the discharge lamp 5 are reflected on the small-range sections 8 and concentrated at the root seal section 10 of the discharge lamp 5. The local light quantity irregularity by the reflecting mirror 6 is eliminated, the temperature of the coldest section of the discharge lamp 5 is increased, and the deterioration of lamp efficiency can be prevented.
