Title:
DISK BRAKE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01150030
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To effectively prevent oxidation of a friction material so as to extend its life by providing the friction material, made by a carbon/carbon compound material, between surfaces of a rotor and a pressing member opposed facing to each other and filling a space part, in which the friction material exists, with inert gas. CONSTITUTION:Two sheets of circular ring-shaped rotors 2 are mutually engaged with a serration part 3 in the peripheral surface of a brake applied shaft 1 of an axle shaft or the like in an automobile. Each rotor 2 provides a friction material 2b, made by a carbon/carbon compound material, to be attached to both side surfaces of a metal made base board 2a in a circular ring shape. A space part 15, in which the friction material 2b is provided existing, is shielded from the outside air, and this space part 15 is filled in its inside with inert gas. While this space part 15 places its inside in a vacuum or low pressure condition, obtaining a low oxygen condition. Thus preventing wear of the friction material based on oxidation, the friction material enables its life to be extended.
