To provide a disk device in which the applied voltage of a thread motor that moves an optical pickup is gradually reduced immediately before the completion of a long search so that inertial force applied to an objective lens after the stopping of the rotation of the motor and the vibration of the lens are suppressed.
In a speed/moving distance computing circuit 12, the rotational speed of a thread motor 5 is detected by the detection signal from Hall elements 11a and 11b and speed signals E are generated. Then, difference signals 'e' between the signals E and thread motor driving signals SD are generated by an operational amplifier 94 the signals e are given to a PWM driver 14 after being amplified by an amplifier 95 and PWM-processed by a PWM signal generating circuit 13, the thread motor 5 is driven based on the PWM processed signals. Note that the amount of the rotation of the motor 5 is detected by the detection signals from the elements 11a and 11b in the circuit 12 and the amount of the movement of an optical pickup 2 is detected.
