Abstract:
PURPOSE: To increase the number of disks to be housed in piles in a case in the disk device where plural disks are housed in the case and one out of the disks is selected and driven.
CONSTITUTION: Cartridges C housing the disks are housed in piles in a disk housing part S in the case 11. A vertically moving holder 21 for selecting and drawing out a cartridge C in its vertical movement is provided on a side of this disk housing part S. The cartridge C held in this vertically moving holder 21 is sent to a disk driving part installed on the interior side of the vertically moving holder 21. Since the vertically moving holder 21 is lower in its height ha than the disk driving part, its vertically moving operation range is widened. Consequently, the number of cartridges C to be housed in piles in the disk housing part S can thus be increased.
