Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the thickness of the device main body by changing the retracting direction of a magnetic head.
CONSTITUTION: The constitution is capable of moving a magnetic head 44 and a pickup 10 in one body, and under the moved state of the magnetic head 44 and the pickup 10 in a retracting position deviated from a position opposite to a cartridge holder 3 for holding a recording medium, the recording medium is inserted into the cartridge holder 3 in the direction of an arrow A and is held by the holder 3, and afterward, the cartridge holder 3 is lowered by a prescribed amt. Under this lowering state, the magnetic head 44 and the pickup 10 are moved in the direction of an arrow D, so as to be moved from the retracting position to the position opposite to the cartridge holder 3, i.e., the recording medium.
