Title:
DISPERSED ELECTROLUMINESCENCE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05326149
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a dispersed EL having a significantly extended life by interposing a transparent insulating layer between a surface electrode and a light emitting layer.

CONSTITUTION: Between a surface electrode 12 and a light emitting layer 14, a transparent insulating layer 20 is interposed. The insulating layer 20 is formed by the method of evaporating silicon or aluminium in oxygen atmosphere. The layer thickness of the insulating layer 20 is generally 1000-5000, and preferably 2000-4000. Since both surface sides of the light emitting layer 14 are insulated by a dielectric layer 16 and the transparent insulating layer 20, respectively, injection of primary electrons from the outside into the light emitting layer 14 is prevented, and the deterioration of the light emitting layer 14 is suppressed.
