PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion assistant providing stably good polymer (vinyl-based resin) less in adhesion of scale to a polymerization tank even when using a large amount when used in a dispersion polymerization of a vinyl compound.SOLUTION: An additive for dispersion polymerization contains a polyvinyl alcohol polymer (A) which has an acetal group having an olefin unsaturated double bond (a), saponification degree of 45 to 60 mol%, average polymerization degree of 120 to 400 and block character of 0.5 or more.SELECTED DRAWING: None
