Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerization (dispersion phase polymerization) method of a monomer in a liquid phase dispersed in a continuous liquid phase by using a stabilizer for the dispersion phase known as a reaction stabilizer.SOLUTION: There is provided a dispersion phase polymerization method of a vinyl halide compound having the formula RRC=CXX, where Xis F or Cl, Xis H, F or Cl, Rand Ris each independently -H, Cl, F or preferably chlorinated and/or fluorinated, more preferably perchlorinated or perfluorinated alkyl group, including introducing the monomer to a water phase together with a reaction stabilizer containing one or more free radical source, a polymer chain and a thiocarbonylthio group [S(C=S)] and conducting dispersion phase polymerization with a redox polymerization initiator at less than 40°C, preferably 30°C or less. There is provided a method where the polymer chain contains a non (N-vinyl lactam) monomer unit.SELECTED DRAWING: None
