Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable the display of various kinds of images including moving pictures with a large screen and high fineness by utilizing a change in optical properties or electrical properties between a crystalline phase and an amorphous phase. CONSTITUTION:The one main plane of a reflection plate 1 is scanned with a laser beam 3 from an image writing laser 2 by an optical scanner 4 by using a reflection plate 1 constituted by forming multilayered films contg., for example, an Si thin film, on a glass substrate, etc., to cause the crystalline to amorphous phase change in the Si thin film, by that, the image is written. The other main surface of the reflection plate 1 is irradiated with light 6 from a light source 5 for display and the image written on the Si thin film is macroprojected onto a screen 7 by the reflection of the light at the reflection plate 1 in the case of display of this image. The writing of the image with the high fineness is enabled by scanning the surface of the semiconductor thin film with an energy beam, such as laser beam 3. The image is macroprojected, displayed by irradiating the semiconductor thin film with the light from the light source 5 for display.
