To provide a disposer in which when grinding edges have been locked, removal of a foreign matter giving obstacle to rotation of the grinding edges becomes specific, and it contributes to removal of offensive odor, and attain energy conservation.

The disposer 10 is equipped with a garbage disposal chamber 13 equipping grinding edges 12 rotated and driven by a motor 11, an automatic water supply system 16 which is provided with water supply valves and performs automatic water supply to the garbage disposal chamber 13, a load detection means detecting the load state of the motor 11 and a controlling device 18 controlling them. In this case, the controlling device 18 is equipped with such a first control means that when the load detection means detects overload, the grinding edges 12 are reversely rotated and quantity of water supply of the automatic water supply system 16 is increased.
