To provide a distance detector capable of attaining a light receiving/emitting monitor function even if placing a light receiving part vertically to a scanning mirror.
The angle of a reflecting mirror 3 is adjustable, and one end of a light guide member 8 is disposed on the back face side of the reflecting mirror 3, while the other end of the light guide member 8 is turned to the light receiving part 6. At the distance detecting timing, laser beams are reflected by the reflecting mirror 3, and the laser beams are guided to a polygon mirror 5. At the timing of the light receiving/emitting monitor, the angle of the reflecting mirror 3 is adjusted so that the laser beams are guided by the light guide member 8, passing through the reflecting mirror 3.
