Abstract:
PURPOSE:To acquire a distance image at a high speed by calculating the distance before measurement in advance, storing the result in a distance conversion table, and obtaining the distance via only one table look-up during the actual measurement. CONSTITUTION:The ratio R between the image data acquired by sensors 5, 6 with different spectral sensitivity of a camera 3 is calculated for individual picture elements of two image memories 9, 10 via A/D converters 7, 8 and stored in a ratio image memory 12. Distances Z are obtained for all ratios R and coordinate values (x) in the range of the ratio R to be observed, and they are stored in a distance conversion table memory 21. When the distance to be object 2 is to be measured, the ratio image of the actual image data acquired by the sensors 5, 6 is obtained in the ratio image memory 12. The memory 21 reads out the ratio R and X-coordinate values for each picture element from the memory 12, the distance Z is obtained by the look-up of the table and stored in a distance image memory 18. The above actions are performed for all picture elements, and the distance Z to the object 2 for the picture elements of the memory 18 is obtained.
