Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance sensor with which it is possible to suppress a reduction in the accuracy of distance measurement under a condition where background light is strong.SOLUTION: The distance sensor comprises a light source unit, a light receiving unit, and a control unit. The light source unit emits light to an object repeatedly. The light receiving unit receives light in synchronism with emission of light by the light source unit. The control unit controls the operation of the light source unit and light receiving unit, and generates distance information indicating the distance to the object on the basis of received luminous energy each time the received luminous energy (Q1, Q2, Q3) of received light is read from the light receiving unit. The control unit causes the cycle of each of emitted light by the light source unit and received light by the light receiving unit to change in accordance with the magnitude of the received luminous energy. Each time a received luminous energy read from the light receiving unit is repeated a prescribed number of times, the control unit generates distance information based on the received luminous energy for the prescribed number of times. The prescribed number of times corresponds to the cycle made to change by the control unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
