Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a doctor blade with an integral mounting means and retainer.

CONSTITUTION: This doctor blade 10 comprises a long, narrow strip 12, punched to have 2 sets of integral recesses 20, 22 in the area adjacent to the longitudinal edge 18. One set 20 projects toward one side to form a retainer which holds the blade 10 in a holder. The other set 22 projects toward the other side to act as a spring for biassing the blade within the holder. The edge 14 serves as the doctor blade edge. The doctor blade 10 is made of a metal or composite plastic material.
