To eliminate a travelling position variation of an ink ribbon caused upon drive of hammer pins, prevent insufficiently printed characters generated due to travelling position variation of the ink ribbon, and prevent a reduction in execution printing speed.
A ribbon guide defining the travelling position of the ink ribbon is provided with a roller-shaped ribbon travelling position sensor and a drum-shaped roller which corrects the ribbon travelling position. The inclination angle of the ribbon guide can be changed by a stepping motor and an eccentric cum. When the inclination angle of the ribbon guide is changed according to a ribbon travelling position sensor signal, printing density information, and paper feeding information, the travelling position of the ink ribbon can be automatically adjusted. Thus, the problem can be solved.
