To provide a dressing device which is installed on a grinding machine, reduces the size of a motor, and enhances dressing accuracy.
A rotation drive source 43 is attached to a support member 54 so as to be orthogonal to a rotating shaft 44 and so that a center plane 75 extending through the center of a dressing wheel 45 extends through or near the center 76 of a pivot shaft 53. During dressing operation, the dressing wheel receives a reaction force from a grinding wheel. The direction of the reaction force is aligned with the center plane. The reaction force is directed to the pivot shaft. Therefore, a couple of force (rotating force) hardly acts on the pivot shaft. Consequently, since a motor torque can be reduced, the dressing device having a compact motor and enhanced dressing accuracy can be provided.
