Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize distribution of shrinkage percentages of paper in the transverse direction, while a drier of a paper machine uses vacuum rolls having constant diameters.
SOLUTION: A paper web 1 is made to be accompanied with a canvas 4' having such a cross-sectional shape that its thickness is gradually changed toward both the ends from the center in the transverse direction of the paper, and further is made to sequentially circle two or more drier rolls each equipped with a heating means and vacuum rolls and to travel on the rolls, so that the paper web 1 is dried.
