Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially uniformize a frequency of use of respective ink nozzles to attain long life of an ink jet head in an ink jet printer, which has an ink jet head provided with a multiplicity of ink nozzles.
SOLUTION: A drive control method comprises the steps of finding a curve I of frequency of actual use of respective ink nozzles of an ink nozzle group on an ink jet head (step ST71), and calculating a curve II of frequency of scheduled use of the ink nozzle group U used in the case where printing data amounting of one line scheduled to be printed after a point of time when the frequency of actual use is measured are printed (step ST72). The method further comprises the steps of setting a range of the ink nozzle group U used in association with printing of the printing data on the basis of the frequency of actual use and the frequency of scheduled use so that respective frequencies of use of ink nozzles after the printing data are printed are uniformized (step ST73), and calculating an amount of paper feed so as to enable printing of the printing data by means of the set ink nozzle group being used. Frequency of use of the respective ink nozzles can be uniformized to attain long life of the ink jet head.
