A boom axial force sensor 11 is arranged on a rotary shaft on the side of the upper slewing body 3 of a boom cylinder 7, and the whole load from the base end of a boom 4 to the tip side there of is detected. When delicate operating physical force is applied to a heavy cargo 58 or an work machine, in a vertical direction, this operating physical force is applied to the boom cylinder 7 as a load, therefore, the loads detected by the boom axial force sensor 11 are changed. The change and changing direction of these loads can be detected by high pass filters, thus, on the basis of them, the existence and direction of the operating physical force can be recognized. Therefore, the boom 4 is operated in this direction at a predetermined speed, and also stopped so that an operator can carry the heavy cargo 58 by the delicate operating physical force.
